The purchase story

Every messy step from shopping aluminum boats to locking a Raider Coastal 230 — told like it happened, not like a brochure.

    Before the buy

    Wanting the water every day

The dream wasn't a brochure boat. It was mornings on the Cumberland — Clarksville water under the hull, a boat that could take river chops and still feel like home. That meant shopping hard, asking dumb questions, and not settling for the first shiny listing.

    January 2026

    Weldcraft enters the chat

Opened with a Weldcraft 210 Revolution build request. Reed Yacht Sales followed up fast. It was a real path — aluminum workboat DNA, serious fishing layout — and it forced the specs to get specific.

    Late January

Raider shows up — and so does everything else

Same stretch of days: Pop Yachts pinged used Raider 210 Explorers, Tobler Marina had Duckworth in the mix, and Kylo Matlock at Selkirk sent a Raider 21D / Delta build sheet. Insurance intros started. The shortlist got loud.

    February

    Delta options, then Coastal 230

Deep Q&A with Selkirk. $1k show deposit to lock a slot. Then the size step-up: Coastal 230 with the same option mindset as the Delta — Honda 350 power, Kraken, second station, Shockwave seats, AquaTraction. Final build sheet late February.
